Harry Price Library - Appeal for Reminiscences

The Old Harry Price Library at Senate House – An Appeal for Reminiscences

Dear members and supporters of the SPR

Were you fortunate enough to have visited the Old Harry Price Library, in the days when the whole archive was housed together on the eighth floor of Senate House?  If so, I’d love to hear your recollections.  How was it to spend time researching there, how did it look, what was the atmosphere like, what were you researching and when etc?

I am artist and researcher Sarah Sparkes and I’m running a creative research project centred on the Harry Price Library.  Part of the project involves compiling an archive of memories and responses inspired by and in celebration of this unique collection.  Your stories would form part of an exhibition to be held at the University of London during the Bloomsbury Festival in October this year and will also be part of an on-line archive exploring the idea of “A Magical Library for the 21st Century”

Please send you reminiscences to:

Or post them to:

Any material that you send me will be credited to you unless you prefer to remain anonymous.

As part of the research and inspired by Harry Price’s investigations into the paranormal myself and a team of researchers are also collecting ‘ghost stories’ emanating from Senate House.  More on this here: www.ghostsofsenatehouse.blogspot.com
