There is a small registration fee intended as a fundraiser for the New York-based Parapsychology Foundation which is hosting this forum on physical mediumship as part of its PF Lyceum series.  Details and links about how to register are provided below, as are the descriptions of all four presentations.

Walter Meyer zu Erpen:  Ectoplasm: Myth or Reality? -- Psychical Research Experiments by Dr. T. Glen Hamilton and Associates, Winnipeg, Manitoba, 1918-1935.” The presentation will examine the ectoplasmic experiments photographed between 1928 and 1934 by Dr. T. Glen Hamilton (1873-1935) in the séance room in his home in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. To help participants form their own opinions about ectoplasm, the presentation will cover the historical context of the experiments, the integrity of the Hamilton family and their associates, the reaction of Dr. Hamilton’s medical colleagues, and the authenticity of the archival collection. Discussion will focus on the possible role of intentional actions by trance personalities in the Hamilton’s study of physical mediumship, the relationship between psychical research and belief in personal immortality, and the potential value of physical phenomena as evidence of life after death.

Dr. Stephen E. Braude will give the talk called “The Felix Experimental Group: The Mixed Blessings of Mixed Mediumship.” The presentation will describe Stephen Braude's multi-year investigation of what initially appeared to be a promising new case of physical mediumship, with a medium, Kai Muegge, apparently amenable to being tested under serious controls. Although this investigation yielded tantalizing evidence of some genuine phenomena, this was combined with substantial evidence of fraud in séances not supervised by Braude. The presentation will summarize the evidence (both pro and con) and evaluate the overall significance of the Felix Group.
