SPR Web Events

SPR WEB EVENT INFORMATION

The Society for Psychical Research will now be running a series of web events to engage and inform members on a variety of topics from across the field of psychic/parapsychological phenomena and research.

A "web event" refers to an online event (similar to our Lecture programme) where a speaker, or small group of speakers, delivers a presentation to an audience who participate by submitting questions and responding to polls.

The precise format of the event will vary accordingly and may include seminars, video workshops, lectures, presentations, discussions and interviews.

 

HOW TO ATTEND?

Please request an invitation on our Upcoming Events page. Once you have requested the invitation to an SPR Web Event, this will be sent to you via an email from Zoom. YOU WILL THEN NEED TO CLICK ON THE REGISTER LINK IN THAT EMAIL IN ORDER TO GET YOUR LINK TO JOIN THE MEETING AT THE ADVERTISED TIME. 

If you are a Member and logged in to this website, you will see a list of the scheduled web events below, with links to request an invitation.

Non-members will be able to request an invitation for a small fee.

 

WHO WILL HOST THE SESSION?

The SPR Web Events series will be chaired by the SPR’s Web Events Coordinator, Dr David Vernon.

JOINING THE WEBINAR WITH ZOOM

We strongly encourage joining the workshop utilising the Zoom app; this is available for computers, tablets, and phones at:

WEB EVENT PARTICIPATION

To help reduce extraneous noise the host will usually mute all Attendees to ensure the Speaker/Presenter can be heard clearly. However, you can ask questions by activating the ‘Zoom Group Chat’ which usually appears to the right-hand side of the screen and typing in your questions. In addition to this, you can use the ‘Raise Hand’ function under the ‘Participants’ tab on the toolbar and if possible the Host can ‘un-mute’ you allowing you to ask a question.

LEAVING THE WEB EVENT  

Click Leave meeting to leave the webinar at any time. If you leave, you can re-join if the webinar is still in progress, as long as the host has not locked the webinar. 

WHAT IF I HAVE A TECHNICAL ISSUE DURING THE WEB EVENT?

As a first step, we recommend checking your internet connection to ensure that you are still connected. Alternatively, logging out and re-joining the meeting may help.
