Ashley's enduring interest in the paranormal began with a formative experience in a manor house near his Hertfordshire home—an encounter he believes may have involved an apparition. This early event ignited a lifelong curiosity, which has since developed into a serious commitment to the investigation and understanding of spontaneous and anomalous phenomena.
Initially drawn to books and documentaries, Ashley’s passion quickly evolved into hands-on investigation, theory development, and research into personal and collective paranormal experiences. His work has taken him across the UK and abroad, exploring both well-known haunted sites and lesser-documented locations.
His investigative journey led him to the Society for Psychical Research, where he is now a long-standing member of the Spontaneous Cases Committee, focusing on contemporary case analysis. Ashley became an SPR Council member, where he continues to support the Society’s mission to examine unexplained human experiences with academic rigour and open-minded inquiry.
Working within the field of Service Design & Transition in the Technology sector; has also provided him with the tools to analyse large amounts of data to gain greater understanding of of the services he has designed. This has also provided him with an approach to his psychical research where he is now adopting the use of larger data sets, Generative AI and looking at multiple cases at once rather than one at a time. This new understanding led to the creation of the Psi Dynamics Research Unit (PDRU) within the SCC, which is a project that Ashley is working on to look at the large amounts of experience data the SCC has captured since he joined hoping to find a way to profile the experiences and gain greater understanding of the phenomenon.
An enthusiastic writer, Ashley is the co-author of Supernatural Synchronicity (with Sarah Chumacero) and his forthcoming book, The Royal Oak Investigations, is due for publication in May 2026 as part of 6th Books’ Paranormal Perspectives series. He has also contributed extensively to the SPR’s Paranormal Review magazine and website, as well as writing for Haunted Magazine, Ghost Voices Magazine, and other publications within the paranormal field.
Through his writing, Ashley aims to share the insights, stories, and theories that have emerged from years of investigation, in the hope of inspiring others to explore the rich and complex world of psychical research.
